12/27 SET-UP VOLUNTEERS FOR TBAG BIKE VALET
FREE BREAKFAST @ MISSION GRILLE (Tempe Mission Palms)
Special THANKS to the Tempe Mission Palms for supporting our set-up crew and for hosting one of the much needed overflow bike valet stations at TMP!
With more than 80,000 ppl expected to attend – BIKE is the only way to go!
I think this is great! I’m guessing the light rail will generate more interest in bike riding in the valley. I know I’m buying one soon.
I will be out of town.
The valet service for the opening festivities is a great idea.
For those who are tempted to try out the bike racks in the trains — please be aware that some of us plan on actually using the light rail to get to and from work that weekend and will need to transport our bikes so that we can cover the first and last bits of our commute.
Thanks, TBAG, for providing the bike valet service!
Hi Adrienne;
On Sat 12/27 – due to the insanely high rider volume on Sat for the Grand Opening Celebrations, Metro will be prohibiting bikes on the rail cars (sorry!)
It’s just for that day.
One Metro contact suggested that you may be able sneak in with a bike only if you are able jump on the first train (10am) near one of the end stops – either 19thave & Montebello or out to the east in Mesa at Sycamore & Main.
Metro should have completed the installations of the bike racks at the 8 park and ride lots along the line, by Sat. We are still waiting on confirmation that Metro has actually been able to meet this deadline. They are trying to get ‘er done.
The Metro will be free from 12/27 thru 12/31 – and open until 2am on New Year’s, so we will have several more chances to try bike & rail for free. Sorry for the hassle.
