Tour de Fat Recap
Well, we’ve finally recovered, had some time to tally the numbers and reflect upon this year’s Tempe Tour de Fat. By all measures the event was a huge success. Thousands of people came out on a beautiful “fall” day at Tempe Town Lake to celebrate the bicycle, drink New Belgium beer and have a great time. Some numbers from this year’s TdF:
- 88 kegs
- 133 volunteers
- Approx. $24,000 raised for bicycle advocacy (60% more than last year!)
Proceeds from Tour de Fat will be split between TBAG, MBAA and Bike Saviours
.
We can’t say enough about the group of volunteers who stepped up to help out at TdF this year. Everyone did a great job of maintaining the controlled chaos that is Tour de Fat and for that we are grateful. We’ve been told repeatedly by the crew from New Belgium that the Tempe TdF was the smoothest of their TdF stops thanks to our volunteers. So, if you helped out at Tour de Fat this year – BRAVO.
Thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed the Tour de Fat – if you have links to photo galleries or TdF recaps, leave a comment. Thanks again, see you next year!
