TBAG Volunteer Opportunities

April is

Valley Bike Month

And we're getting busy...

There are many cycling events coming up for Valley Bike Month, and we need your help to make them a success! If you are interested in volunteering for one or more of the events listed below, please contact the TBAG coordinator listed for that event. We will be sending out additional reminders as these events approach and things start to heat up...

Sunday, April 5 is Bike-a-Palooza, Tempe's free bike festival at Kiwanis Park. There are 2 volunteer opportunities for this event:

Ride leader: Help guide riders along the 12-mile community ride. Provide assistance with mechanical problems, navigation, and any other issues that arise. Contact Rebecca Clark ([email protected]) to participate.

Bike Rodeo: Teach kids (and adults!) how to safely navigate common road and sidewalk hazards that bicyclists face. Attend one of the two, 2-hour training meetings in advance of the rodeo to learn how it will work (Thursday, March 26, 7-9 pm, and Thursday, April 2, 7-9 pm at 10 W Guadalupe). Contact Rebecca Clark ([email protected]) for more information; this is being organized by the Tempe Police Department.

Sunday, March 29 is Scottsdale Cycle the Arts, at the Scottsdale Civic Center. TBAG will have a table at the event to provide general cycling information to the public and would love help managing it. Contact Sam Bollinger ([email protected]).

Wednesday, April 22 is Bike to Work and School Day . TBAG is organizing a commuter bike-pooling event, with TBAG board members leading rides from all breakfast site locations to the Tempe Transportation Center, and with outbound rides to Scottsdale and Downtown Phoenix. Inbound rides will depart at 7 am to arrive at the Transportation Center by 8, when outbound rides will leave. Let us know if you plan to join one of the rides by contacting Tom Tomczyk for inbound rides ([email protected]) or Ryan Guzy for outbound rides ([email protected]).

Sunday, April 26 is the Great Bike Chase in Phoenix, a ride from Hance Park to Chase Field to a baseball game between the Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants. TBAG will be running the bike valet at Chase Field and needs volunteers to set up and check bikes in and out. Volunteers will receive breakfast and tickets to the game. Contact Sam Bollinger ([email protected]) if you would like to help out.
